Teen Services
The Georgetown County Library reference section offers a comprehensive and varied collection of print and online tools and services to help you find the information you need.
Video Games
We have an extensive collection of video games to play at all four library branches. Find the latest multi-player hits for XBOX One and PlayStation 4 at each of our locations. We also have many single player games available for play when we have more than enough systems available to accommodate all of our patrons. Unfortunately the games are for playing on-site only, and are not available for checking out.
Tabletop Games
We have dozens of tabletop games at all four Georgetown County Library branches available for play. The Waccamaw Neck Branch Library has hundreds of games for you to come play any day after school, or on Saturdays!
Technology & Codi
ng Activities
Georgetown County Library offers a variety of coding games and activities over the course of the year. The summer of 2019 we taught computational thinking through games and escape rooms, but we also had hands on with some amazing technology like Arduino and Flora. Previously we also taught patrons all about drones, and then made functioning drones using Lego.
In 2019 we are focusing on space, the technologies that help explore or colonize space, and activities generate excitement.
ShushCon
ShushCon is our annual games event; a three day convention celebrating games in all of their forms.
Friday morning starts with professional development seminars for teachers, librarians, and other out of school time professionals. From Friday afternoon through Sunday evening we host a variety of tabletop and digital gaming activities including:
- Board games
- Card games
- Miniatures games
- RPGs
- Video games
- VR
Many of our events are run by local gaming celebrities, publishers, and game designers. We also host prestige competitions and multi-round tournaments.
