LIVE at the LI-brary! The Friends of the Waccamaw Library (FOWL) Musicians Series will be back in full swing starting in January 2023. Tap your toes and clap your hands to an array of live music, including a multi-instrumentalist duo, a choral ensemble, outlaw country, and acoustic roots music. All concerts are free and open to the public, thanks to FOWL. The Library is located at 41 St. Paul Place, Pawleys Island, South Carolina 29585.
On Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m., come hear beloved hits performed by Cat & Canter, a super-energetic and talented husband-and-wife duo. After years performing together in New York, Las Vegas, and Southern California, Cat & Canter now focus on spreading musical joy here along the Grand Strand.
On Thursday, February 16 at 6:00 p.m., the Library welcomes the Pawleys Island Ladies Ensemble for a lovely choral concert. The ensemble blends twelve voices to create beautiful versions of traditional hymns, Broadway tunes, and pop songs. Their soulful, family-friendly show will warm hearts in the middle of the wintertime.
Performing live on Thursday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. will be South Carolina native and acclaimed Nashville singer-songwriter Marshall Chapman. She was an integral member of the 1970s “outlaw country” scene, alongside Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. With fourteen albums to date, Chapman is a celebrated performer, and her songs have been recorded by numerous artists, including Jimmy Buffet, Emmylou Harris, and Tanya Tucker. As an added treat, Chapman will share stories from her many adventures on the Nashville music scene for the FOWL 1st Thursday Speaker Series on Thursday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m.
Finally, on Thursday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m., accomplished guitarist and frontman Tom Cowieson will treat us to a full slate of genuine Americana, blues, and roots music.
