Georgetown County will temporarily suspend use of more environmentally friendly mosquito control applications beginning July 26. Mosquito Control staff will continue to operate utilizing a permethrin and Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) pesticide traditionally used for Mosquito Control. Mosquito spraying services will NOT be interrupted. The county was notified this morning by the Clemson Pesticide Regulatory Division that we cannot continue to use the new product until ULV spraying is covered on its label to allow the use for Public Mosquito Control. We are working with the product manufacturer to have these updates completed and hope to resume using more environmentally safe practices soon, as we still believe this is the better and safer solution for our community.
