Bob Anderson of the Pawleys Island area was elected to his second term on Georgetown County Council in November 2020. He finished his first term six years earlier, when he represented District 6. During his first term, Mr. Anderson was proud to have completed a week-long training program with county staff and other elected officials at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute. He was also part of the initiative to implement a 1% Capital Project Sales Tax, which raised more than $41 million and helped fund road improvements, dredging at Murrells Inlet and emergency services enhancements.
Mr. Anderson grew up in Chesapeake Bay, but spent the majority of his adult life working in East Tennessee after graduating from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree. He and his wife moved to Georgetown County in 2000 after a brief time in Georgetown, Mass. Mr. Anderson owned and operated Anderson Home Designs and Sales from 2004 until 2015, when he retired. Prior to that, he spent the majority of his career in corporate engineering and manufacturing, where he worked for Sperry Univac making mainframe computer peripherals, Magnavox making consumer electronics, and Raytheon building tactical guided missiles. He has spent many years coaching youth sports, is a licensed soccer coach and has a license in water safety instruction. He and his wife have two adult children and five grandchildren.
