More than 3,300 Georgetown County property owners will receive a notice of assessment this month. The county is required to send notices to property owners if their taxable real property values will change by more than $1,000.
Assessor Tim Holt said his office will mail assessment notices on July 15. Of 57,330 real properties in Georgetown County, a total of 3,318 have seen value changes big enough to require a notice of assessment. These are mostly newly purchased or newly constructed homes. This is unrelated to the countywide reassessment that will occur next year.
Property owners will have 90 days to appeal the new values if they disagree with the value calculated by the Assessor’s Office. Instructions and an appeals form are included on each notice.
