Primary Election season is here: Dates voters need to know

The 2026 election cycle is underway, and Georgetown County's Voter Registration and Elections Office wants residents prepared with the dates and details they need. 

The following offices are on this year's ballot: 

  • Governor and Lt. Governor
  • Secretary of State
  • Attorney General
  • Comptroller General 
  • State Superintendent of Education
  • Commissioner of Agriculture
  • U.S. Senate
  • U.S. House of Representatives
  • State House of Representatives District 103
  • Solicitor Circuit 15
  • Soil and Water District Commission
  • County Council District 1
  • County Council District 6
  • County Council District 7
  • School Board At Large
  • School Board District 2
  • School Board District 7

 All offices except school board seats, which are nonpartisan, will have primary elections on June 9. The general election will be on Nov. 3.

Candidate Filing   

Candidates interested in running for partisan offices have a two-week window to file. The filing period opened March 16 at noon and closes March 30 at noon. Contact the Elections Office at 843-545-3339 for information on how to file or visit our Upcoming Elections page

Voter Registration Deadlines  

Residents who need to register — or update their registration — should note three deadlines ahead of the June 9 statewide primaries. The deadline to register in person is May 8. Registration by online, fax or email must be completed by May 10. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked no later than May 11.

Primary Day and Early Voting  

The statewide primary is June 9. Early voting runs May 26 through June 5, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays only. Four early vote centers will be open: Andrews Recreational Center (220 S. Cedar Ave.), Choppee Recreational Center (8259 Choppee Road), Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center (83 Duncan Ave., Pawleys Island) and the Elections Office (303 N. Hazard St., Georgetown).
