Georgetown County taxpayers will have until mid-February to pay property taxes on real estate.
The Georgetown County Auditor and Treasurer announced today that the S.C. Department of Revenue has granted an extension, allowing payment of 2023 real estate property taxes to be accepted without penalty through Feb. 15, 2024. The county received an earlier extension allowing it to mail out property tax notices late due to software issues. Since notices are going out late, the county wanted to allow taxpayers extra time to get their payments in. Late fees will begin being assigned Feb. 16.
The Feb. 15 deadline will include all final installment payments as well.
“We appreciate the taxpayers’ understanding as we continue to navigate our new software,” said Georgetown County Auditor Ken Baker.
Property tax bills are already available online and can be paid there any time for those who are trying to get payments in before the end of the year for tax purposes. Residents do not have to wait to receive the paper bill to make a payment. View and pay bills at https://georgetowncountysctax.com/#/.
