Georgetown County Building Official Steven Elliott and Senior Planner Matthew Millwood recently joined Jennifer Mak of Forerunner in presentations to both a statewide and nationwide audience. The focus was on how Forerunner has helped the county improve data collection and public communication. The trio presented at the S.C. Association for Hazard Mitigation conference in Myrtle Beach, and then at the Association of State Floodplain Managers national conference in Salt Lake City. The county started using Forerunner last summer and Forerunner recently published a case study on its experiences, particularly with Hurricane Idalia in August. The county used Forerunner’s Preliminary Damage Assessment feature to complete their damage assessments in the field following the storm.
